Texas Tech (TTU) grading scale
At Texas Tech, instructors may add a plus or minus to a grade on your transcript. The university's operating policy says these marks "will not be used in the calculation of the student's cumulative grade point average." So an A- counts as a 4 and a B+ as a 3.

"All other grades have no assigned grade points", so leave out P, W, I and similar marks.
How your Texas Tech (TTU) GPA is calculated
GPA = total quality points ÷ total graded credit hours, where quality points for a course = grade points × credit hours. For a new cumulative GPA: (current GPA × hours so far + this term’s quality points) ÷ (hours so far + this term’s graded hours).
Repeated courses
Under TTU's Undergraduate Grade Replacement Policy, "Only grades of D and F are eligible for grade replacement." When you retake the course at Texas Tech, the most recent attempt counts in your cumulative GPA. That's true even if you earn another D or F. The original grade stays on your transcript with a notation, and honors designations use a "pure" GPA that includes every attempt.
Retake example
A student has a 2.50 GPA over 30 hours, and one of those courses was a 3-credit F. They retake it and earn a C. If the policy applies, the F’s 3 hours and 0 points come out of the prior totals. The new cumulative GPA is 2.700. If both attempts counted, it would be 2.455.

Total: 39 quality points ÷ 13 hours = 3.000 semester GPA. If the student already had a 3.20 GPA over 45 hours, the new cumulative GPA would be (144 + 39) ÷ (45 + 13) = 3.155.
