MDU SGPA & CGPA Calculator (PG CBCS)
MDU's CBCS ordinance for postgraduate courses has an unusually wide A band: anything from 60 up to 75 is A (Very Good) and earns 8 grade points. Above it, 75–84 is A+ (9) and 85–100 is O (10); below it the bands narrow to B+ (7) for 55–59, B (6) for 50–54 and C (5) for 40–49. The ordinance lists P (Pass, 4) at 40 and F below 40.
SGPA is Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi for the semester and CGPA is Σ(Ci × Si) / ΣCi, weighting each semester's SGPA by its credits, both rounded to two decimals. Non-credit courses are marked Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory and left out. The ordinance's own illustration is loaded as the example: six courses with 20 credits and 139 credit points give an SGPA of 6.95, and with the next three semesters at 7.85, 5.6 and 6.0 the CGPA is 6.57.
MDU's divisions are set higher than many universities: a CGPA of 8 or more is First Division, 6 to below 8 Second Division and 4 to below 6 Third Division, and 9 or more at the first attempt earns First Class with Distinction. The ordinance does not give a percentage conversion, so none is shown.

How MDU calculates SGPA and CGPA
Rules from the MDU CBCS Ordinance for all PG courses (two- and three-year, excluding M.Pharm.), Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak:
- SGPA (Si) = Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi over the courses of the semester; CGPA = Σ(Ci × Si) / ΣCi where Si is each semester's SGPA and Ci its total credits; both rounded to 2 decimals.
- Non-credit courses show Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory and are not counted in SGPA or CGPA.
- The ordinance's example: credits 3, 4, 3, 3, 3, 4 with grades A, B+, B, O, C, B give 139 ÷ 20 = 6.95; with later SGPAs 7.85, 5.6 and 6.0 on 22, 24 and 22 credits the two-year CGPA is 6.57.
- Divisions: CGPA 8 and above First, 6 to below 8 Second, 4 to below 6 Third; 9 and above at the first attempt is First Class with Distinction.

Worked example
The SGPA example loaded above has 6 courses (3 credits at A, 4 credits at B+, 3 credits at B and so on) worth 20 credits and 139 credit points, so the SGPA is 139 ÷ 20 = 6.95.
For the CGPA, the example semesters (6.95 on 20 credits; 7.85 on 22 credits; 5.6 on 24 credits; 6 on 22 credits) give Σ(SGPA × credits) = 578.1 over 88 credits, so the CGPA is 6.57.
