Texas A&M doesn't use plus or minus grades for undergraduates. The only letter grades that carry grade points are A, B, C and D. An F carries no points, but its hours still count.

The catalog excludes hours with W, Q, S, X, I and NG from the GPA. F hours are included.
How your TAMU GPA is calculated
GPA = total quality points ÷ total graded credit hours, where quality points for a course = grade points × credit hours. For a new cumulative GPA: (current GPA × hours so far + this term’s quality points) ÷ (hours so far + this term’s graded hours).
Repeated courses
The 2026-2027 catalog says: "The original grade will remain on the student's permanent record, and both grades will be used in computing the GPA." If you repeat a course in which you already earned a B or better, the repeat earns no grade points unless the course is designated as repeatable for credit.

Total: 39 quality points ÷ 13 hours = 3.000 semester GPA. If the student already had a 3.20 GPA over 45 hours, the new cumulative GPA would be (144 + 39) ÷ (45 + 13) = 3.155.
