Calicut University SGPA & CGPA Calculator
Calicut University's B.Tech 2019 regulations use a clean ten-mark scale: S (10) for 90 and above, then A, B, C, D and E for each ten marks down to 40, and U (failed) below that. What is less well known is the penalty in clause 12 — if you do not pass a subject within two attempts, the best grade you can get when you finally clear it is C, worth 7, even if you score 95.
Clause 13 defines SGPA as Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi for the subjects registered in the semester and CGPA as the same weighted average over every subject registered since you joined, both rounded to two decimals. Only the rounded values are used when ranks are decided. Lateral-entry students are classified on semesters 3 to 8 alone.

How Calicut University calculates SGPA and CGPA
Rules from the University of Calicut B.Tech Regulations 2019 (as modified by U.O. No. 13085/2023/Admn):
- SGPA = Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi over the subjects registered in the semester; CGPA uses the same formula over every subject registered since admission (clause 13).
- Both are rounded off to the second decimal place, and only the rounded values are used for merit ranking.
- A subject not passed in two attempts can earn at most a C (7) when it is finally passed, whatever the marks (clause 12).
- Lateral-entry students are classified on the CGPA of semesters 3 to 8.
- U.O. No. 13085/2023/Admn (19.08.2023) changed the clause-12 conversion from (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 to CGPA × 10.

Worked example
The SGPA example loaded above has 7 courses (4 credits at A, 4 credits at B, 4 credits at S and so on) worth 21 credits and 181 credit points, so the SGPA is 181 ÷ 21 = 8.62.
For the CGPA, the example semesters (8.29 on 21 credits; 7.62 on 23 credits; 8.05 on 24 credits) give Σ(SGPA × credits) = 542.55 over 68 credits, so the CGPA is 7.98, which is 79.80% under Percentage marks = CGPA × 10.
