GTU CGPA / CPI to Percentage Calculator
GTU mark sheets show an SPI for each semester, a CPI across semesters and, for longer courses, a CGPA, and all of them sit on a ten-point scale. Notification 1/2012 of the Academic Council, enforced from the winter 2011 examinations, gives the equation for turning a CPI or CGPA into a percentage: Percentage Marks = (CPI/CGPA − 0.5) × 10. A CPI of 7.62 is therefore 71.2%.
The same notification defines the equivalent class, and GTU's distinction line is lower than many universities': 7.1 and above is First Class with Distinction, 6.5 and above First Class, 5.5 and above Second Class, and below 5.5 Pass Class. It also explains which figure matters for the degree — for courses longer than two years, the CGPA of the last four semesters; for two-year courses, the CPI of all four semesters.

Rules from the GTU Notification 1/2012 (Academic Council), Gujarat Technological University:
- Item 4 of Notification 1/2012: Percentage Marks = (CPI/CGPA − 0.5) × 10.
- CPI/CGPA equivalent class: below 5.5 Pass Class; 5.5 and above Second Class; 6.5 and above First Class; 7.1 and above First Class with Distinction.
- Item 5: for courses longer than two years the degree is awarded on the CGPA of the last four semesters; for two-year courses on the CPI of all four semesters.
- Enforced from the winter 2011 examinations (No. GTU/Notification/2012/3970, 13.04.2012).

Worked example
For a CPI / CGPA of 7.62: (7.62 − 0.5) × 10 = 71.20%.
Going the other way, a target of 60% needs a CPI / CGPA of 6.5000, so you need at least 6.50 on your grade sheet.
