Nepal GPA Calculator (SEE / NEB)
Nepal’s SEE (Grade 10) and NEB (Grade 11 and 12) results use letter grading on a 4.0 scale. A percentage of 90 or more is A+ (4.0), 80–89 A (3.6), 70–79 B+ (3.2), 60–69 B (2.8), 50–59 C+ (2.4), 40–49 C (2.0) and 35–39 D (1.6). Below 35% is NG (Not Graded). The theory and internal (practical) parts of a subject are graded separately and each carries its own credit hours.
GPA = Σ(grade point × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours. Enter every line from your grade sheet, for example English theory and English internal, with the marks, full marks and credit hours printed there. If any part is NG, the grade sheet shows NG and the student needs to clear it before a final GPA is issued. The calculator still shows what the other grades average to.
Worked example: English 61/75 theory (A, 3.6) and 23/25 internal (A+, 4.0), Mathematics 58/75 (B+, 3.2) and 22/25 (A, 3.6), and Science 52/75 (B, 2.8) and 24/25 (A+, 4.0). With 3 and 1 credit hours per part, the total is 40.40 ÷ 12 = 3.37.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert GPA to percentage in Nepal?
- There is no official formula. The grade sheet only gives grade bands, and a GPA of 3.6 means an average in the A band (80–89%). Some institutions use rough conversions; quote your GPA with the grading table when asked.
- What does NG mean on a SEE or NEB grade sheet?
- Not Graded. The student scored below the 35% threshold in that part. The subject has to be cleared, for example through a supplementary or grade-increment exam.
- Are theory and practical graded separately?
- Yes. Each part gets its own grade and grade point, and the GPA weights them by their credit hours.
- Where do I find the credit hours?
- They are printed on the grade sheet next to each subject’s theory and internal parts. Copy them exactly; the example values above are only an illustration.
