Calicut University CGPA to Percentage
Calicut University changed its B.Tech conversion in August 2023. Clause 12 of the B.Tech 2019 regulations originally said percentage marks = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10, which cost every student five percentage points. On the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, the Vice-Chancellor sanctioned a modification, and U.O. No. 13085/2023/Admn dated 19 August 2023 replaced it with percentage marks = CGPA × 10.
So a CGPA of 7.8 converts to 78% under the current rule; under the old formula it would have been 73%. The same order also added a "Mandatory Student Activity 1 Credit (Non Academic)" line to clause 20, and it was issued subject to ratification by the Academic Council.
The calculator uses the current CGPA × 10 rule and shows your class from clause 21. The reverse tool finds the CGPA needed for a given percentage.
The rule applies to the B.Tech programme under the 2019 regulations. The class is still decided on the CGPA — 8.00 for First Class with Distinction and 6.50 for First Class — and the converted percentage only restates it as 80% and 65%.

The official Calicut University CGPA to percentage rule
Rules from the University of Calicut B.Tech Regulations 2019 (as modified by U.O. No. 13085/2023/Admn):
- SGPA = Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi over the subjects registered in the semester; CGPA uses the same formula over every subject registered since admission (clause 13).
- Both are rounded off to the second decimal place, and only the rounded values are used for merit ranking.
- A subject not passed in two attempts can earn at most a C (7) when it is finally passed, whatever the marks (clause 12).
- Lateral-entry students are classified on the CGPA of semesters 3 to 8.
- U.O. No. 13085/2023/Admn (19.08.2023) changed the clause-12 conversion from (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 to CGPA × 10.

For a CGPA of 7.8: 7.8 × 10 = 78.00%.
Going the other way, a target of 70% needs a CGPA of 7.0000, so you need at least 7.00 on your grade sheet.
