DepEd Grade Calculator (Transmutation)
Under DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015, a quarterly grade in Philippine K to 12 schools comes from three components: Written Work, Performance Tasks and the Quarterly Assessment. Each is converted to a percentage score, multiplied by the subject’s weight and added to give the initial grade. The initial grade is then transmuted with DepEd’s table, so a 60 initial grade becomes 75, the lowest passing grade, and 100 stays 100.
Weights depend on the subject. For Grades 1–10: Languages, AP and EsP use 30/50/20; Science and Math use 40/40/20; MAPEH and EPP/TLE use 20/60/20. Senior High core subjects use 25/50/25. The table follows a simple rule: from 60 upward each 1.6 points of initial grade adds one transmuted point. Below 60 each 4 points adds one, starting from 60.
Worked example (default): Written Work 142/160 (88.75 × 30% = 26.63), Performance Tasks 118/150 (78.67 × 50% = 39.33) and Quarterly Assessment 36/50 (72 × 20% = 14.40) give an initial grade of 80.36. Transmuted, that is 75 + ⌊20.36 ÷ 1.6⌋ = 87, Very Satisfactory. The final grade is the average of the four quarterly grades. Check whether your school has adopted a newer DepEd issuance.

| Initial grade | 100% | 80.36 |
- Percentage score of each componentPS = total score ÷ highest possible score × 100.
- Weighted scoreWS = PS × component weight (Filipino, English, Araling Panlipunan, EsP (Grades 1–10): 30% / 50% / 20%).
- Initial grade26.63 + 39.33 + 14.40 = 80.36
- Transmute75 + ⌊(80.36 − 60) ÷ 1.6⌋ = 87
