Calcutta University SGPA & CGPA Calculator
Under the Curriculum and Credit Framework, Calcutta University does not use fixed grade points per letter. Clause 17 of the CCF examination regulations for the three-year B.A./B.Sc. (Multidisciplinary) programmes makes the grade point continuous: it is simply your percentage in the paper multiplied by 0.10. Score 52% and the paper's grade point is 5.20; score 87.5% and it is 8.75. So this calculator asks for marks, not letters.
The SGPA is the credit-weighted average of those grade points and is printed to three decimal places. There is one hard rule: if any paper in the semester is below the 30% qualifying mark (30% is needed separately in theory and in practical or tutorial), the university shows the SGPA as NA, and a single NA semester makes the CGPA NA too. The calculator reproduces that.
The CGPA weights each semester's SGPA by the credits used for grade point calculation. The final letter grade on the grade sheet comes from the CGPA band — 9.000 and above is A++ (Outstanding), 8.000–8.999 is A+, and so on down to 3.000–3.999 for C. Notification CSR/143/2024 fixes the percentage as CGPA × 10.

How CU calculates SGPA and CGPA
Rules from the University of Calcutta Examination Regulations, 3-year B.A./B.Sc. (Multidisciplinary) under CCF 2022 (CSR/43/2023):
- Numerical grade point = percentage of marks × 0.10 for any paper with at least 30%, e.g. 52% gives 5.20 (clause 17). No grade point is calculated for a failed paper.
- A paper is qualified only with 30% separately in theory and in practical/tutorial, where applicable (clause 10 i).
- SGPA = Σ(Pi × Ci) / ΣCi over the papers of the semester, shown to three decimals; if any paper is not qualified the SGPA is "NA" (clauses 10 ii, 18 a).
- CGPA = Σ(SGPAj × Cj) / ΣCj over the six semesters, to three decimals; a single NA semester makes the CGPA NA (clauses 10 iii, 18 b). The letter grade on the final sheet comes from the CGPA band table.

Worked example
The SGPA example loaded above has 6 papers worth 20 credits. Each paper’s marks become grade points (for instance 72% gives 7.2), the credit points add up to 143.9, and 143.9 ÷ 20 = 7.195.
For the CGPA, the example semesters (6.912 on 20 credits; 7.105 on 20 credits; 7.4 on 22 credits) give Σ(SGPA × credits) = 443.14 over 62 credits, so the CGPA is 7.147, which is 71.47% under Percentage = CGPA × 10.
