BC High School GPA Calculator

British Columbia secondary schools report Grade 10–12 marks as a percentage with a letter grade. Scholarships, US colleges and some programs ask for a GPA, so this calculator converts your marks to letters on the BC scale, then to a 4-point GPA weighted by credits. It also shows your percentage average.

The BC letter-grade scale: A 86–100, B 73–85, C+ 67–72, C 60–66, C− 50–59, F below 50. The 4-point conversion used here is A = 4, B = 3, C+ = 2.5, C = 2, C− = 1, F = 0, the common mapping for this scale. Most BC courses are 4 credits. Because the BC scale has wide bands, an 86 and a 99 both become 4.0 and a 73 and an 85 both become 3.0. That is why BC universities and most Canadian universities admit on the percentage average of specific Grade 11 and 12 courses, not on a GPA.

Default example: six 4-credit courses (88, 79, 84, 72, 91, 67) give letters A, B, B, B, A, C+, so 76 ÷ 24 = 3.17 GPA, with an 80.17% average. A US admissions office may recalculate it on its own scale.
