Calcutta University CGPA to Percentage
For undergraduate courses under the Curriculum and Credit Framework, the University of Calcutta settled the question in Notification No. CSR/143/2024. The Syndicate approved it on 4 December 2024 (confirmed 11 December) and the Registrar notified it on 24 December 2024 with immediate effect: CGPA × 10 = Percentage of marks.
Because CU's CCF CGPA is carried to three decimals, the percentage keeps two: a CGPA of 7.245 is 72.45%. The formula is consistent with how the grade point itself is built — a paper's grade point is its percentage × 0.10 — so multiplying the credit-weighted average back by ten returns a credit-weighted percentage.

The rule is stated for undergraduate courses under the CCF. A CGPA shown as NA — which happens while any paper is below the 30% qualifying mark — has no percentage until that paper is cleared and the CGPA is calculated.

The official CU CGPA to percentage rule
Rules from the University of Calcutta Examination Regulations, 3-year B.A./B.Sc. (Multidisciplinary) under CCF 2022 (CSR/43/2023):
- Numerical grade point = percentage of marks × 0.10 for any paper with at least 30%, e.g. 52% gives 5.20 (clause 17). No grade point is calculated for a failed paper.
- A paper is qualified only with 30% separately in theory and in practical/tutorial, where applicable (clause 10 i).
- SGPA = Σ(Pi × Ci) / ΣCi over the papers of the semester, shown to three decimals; if any paper is not qualified the SGPA is "NA" (clauses 10 ii, 18 a).
- CGPA = Σ(SGPAj × Cj) / ΣCj over the six semesters, to three decimals; a single NA semester makes the CGPA NA (clauses 10 iii, 18 b). The letter grade on the final sheet comes from the CGPA band table.

For a CGPA of 7.245: 7.245 × 10 = 72.45%.
Going the other way, a target of 60% needs a CGPA of 6.0000, so you need at least 6.00 on your grade sheet.
