IPU SGPA & CGPA Calculator (GGSIPU)
IP University's grade bands are wider at the top than most. Under clause 11.5 of Ordinance 11, anything from 75 to 89 is A+ (9 points) and only 90 and above is O (10). Below that the bands narrow: A is 65–74, B+ is 55–64, and then the scale moves in five-mark steps — B 50–54, C 45–49 and P 40–44. Less than 40, or absence, is F with zero points.
Clause 13 defines the SGPA as the credit-weighted average of the grade points in a semester and the CGPA as the same weighted average over every course of every semester, both rounded to two decimals. Audit papers are left out. The same clause places graduates in divisions: 6.50 and above is First, 5.00–6.49 Second, 4.00–4.99 Third, and a perfect 10 with every course passed at the first chance is recorded as Exemplary Performance.

How GGSIPU calculates SGPA and CGPA
Rules from the GGSIPU Ordinance 11, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University:
- Marks out of 100 (teacher's continuous evaluation + term-end exam) are converted to a letter grade (clause 11.5). P (4) is the passing grade unless the scheme says otherwise; grades below the passing grade carry 0.
- SGPA = Σ(Ci × Gi) / ΣCi for the semester and CGPA = ΣΣ(Cni × Gni) / ΣΣCni over all semesters, both rounded to two decimals (clause 13).
- Audit papers are not counted in SGPA or CGPA.
- Clause 13: CGPA × 10 is deemed equivalent to the percentage of marks. For older CPI-based results, the examination division's notice of 13.01.2023 states that the CPI itself is treated as the percentage.

Worked example
The SGPA example loaded above has 7 courses (4 credits at A+, 4 credits at A, 4 credits at O and so on) worth 20 credits and 174 credit points, so the SGPA is 174 ÷ 20 = 8.70.
For the CGPA, the example semesters (8.45 on 22 credits; 8.1 on 24 credits; 7.92 on 23 credits; 8.6 on 25 credits) give Σ(SGPA × credits) = 777.46 over 94 credits, so the CGPA is 8.27, which is 82.70% under Percentage = CGPA × 10.

- P, for 40–44 marks, worth 4 grade points, unless the programme's scheme specifies a higher passing grade.
- What CGPA is first division in IP University?
- 6.50 or above. 5.00 to 6.49 is second division and 4.00 to 4.99 is third division (Ordinance 11, clause 13).
- Are audit papers counted in IPU CGPA?
- No. Clause 13 says audit papers are not accounted for in the SGPA and CGPA.
