Thapar CGPA to Percentage Calculator
Thapar states the conversion inside its academic regulations rather than in a separate notice. Right after defining CGPA, clause 1.4 of the June 2022 regulations says: "Formula for conversion of CGPA to percentage of marks is (10 x C.G.P.A)." A CGPA of 8.34 is therefore 83.4%.
Because A+ and A are both worth 10, the maximum CGPA of 10.00 maps to 100%, and because repeated courses replace the earlier grade, improving a course in the summer term raises both your CGPA and the percentage you can quote. The institute does not print a class or division band in this clause, so the calculator shows the percentage only.
Use the reverse tool to find the CGPA needed for a percentage requirement — for example 7.00 for 70% — before you apply.
The CGPA itself counts every graded course since you joined, including E (2 points) and F (0), while I and X grades are left out, so an incomplete does not move the percentage until it is graded. A CGPA of 6.00 converts to 60%.

The official Thapar (TIET) CGPA to percentage rule
Rules from the TIET Academic Regulations (June 2022), Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology:
- Letter grades are awarded on total performance in the course (mid-semester, quizzes, labs, tutorials, assignments and end-semester exam). A+, A, A-, B, B-, C and C- are pass grades.
- CGPA = Σ CiGi / Σ Ci over all courses since entry to the institute; when a course is repeated, the new grade replaces the earlier one.
- I and X grades are not taken into account when calculating the CGPA.
- Both A+ and A carry 10 grade points; E (Exposed) carries 2.

Worked example
For a CGPA of 8.34: 10 × 8.34 = 83.40%.
Going the other way, a target of 75% needs a CGPA of 7.5000, so you need at least 7.50 on your grade sheet.
