SAT Superscore Calculator
An SAT superscore adds your highest Reading and Writing score and your highest Math score, even when they come from different test dates. Each section is scored from 200 to 800 in steps of 10, so a superscore runs from 400 to 1600. Enter every SAT you have taken. The calculator picks the best section scores, adds them, and compares the total with your best single sitting.
Superscoring helps most when your strengths change between sittings, for example a strong Math score in March and a strong Reading and Writing score in June. If one test was your best in both sections, the superscore equals that test’s total.
Worked example: March 640 + 700, June 690 + 660 and August 670 + 720. The best Reading and Writing is 690 (June) and the best Math is 720 (August), so the superscore is 1410. The best single test was 1390. College Board sends all the scores you choose; each college decides whether to superscore.

Frequently asked questions
- Do all colleges superscore the SAT?
- No. Many selective colleges do, others consider only your highest single sitting, and a few require all scores. Check the admissions page of each college.
- Does the superscore include PSAT scores?
- No. Only SAT administrations count. School-day SATs count like weekend SATs.
- How many times should I take the SAT to superscore?
- Most students test two or three times. Gains usually shrink after the third sitting.
- Can I superscore SAT and ACT together?
- No. They are different tests. You can compare them with a concordance table; see the ACT to SAT converter.
