SSC GPA Calculator

Bangladesh education boards calculate the SSC (and Dakhil) GPA on a 5.00 scale. Each subject gets a letter grade and grade point from its marks: A+ (80–100) = 5.00, A (70–79) = 4.00, A− (60–69) = 3.50, B (50–59) = 3.00, C (40–49) = 2.00, D (33–39) = 1.00 and F (below 33) = 0. Two-paper subjects such as Bangla and English are graded on their combined marks. Enter grades directly, or switch to marks and enter marks with full marks.

The GPA is the average of the compulsory subjects. The 4th (optional) subject only helps: the part of its grade point above 2.00 is added to the total before dividing, and the result is capped at 5.00. An F in any compulsory subject means the result is a fail, whatever the other grades.

Worked example (default): nine compulsory subjects total 39.50 points, 4.39 without the 4th subject. Higher Mathematics as the 4th subject with an A+ adds 5.00 − 2.00 = 3.00, so (39.50 + 3.00) ÷ 9 = 4.72. Edit the subject list to match your group (Science, Business Studies or Humanities).

  1. Add the grade points of the compulsory subjects
    Σ = 39.50 over 9 subjects
  2. 4th (optional) subject bonus
    Only the part above 2.00 counts: 5.00 − 2 = 3.00
  3. Divide by the number of compulsory subjects
    (39.50 + 3.00) ÷ 9 = 4.722.
  4. Result
    GPA 4.72 (exact value 4.722).

Frequently asked questions

How is GPA calculated with the 4th subject?
Add the grade points of the compulsory subjects. From the 4th (optional) subject only the points above 2.00 are added, so an A+ (5.00) adds 3.00 and a B (3.00) adds 1.00. Divide by the number of compulsory subjects. The result is capped at 5.00.
What happens if I get an F?
An F in any compulsory subject means you fail, and no GPA is awarded. An F in the 4th subject does not fail you; it simply adds nothing.
What are the grade points for each mark range?
80–100 = A+ (5.00), 70–79 = A (4.00), 60–69 = A− (3.50), 50–59 = B (3.00), 40–49 = C (2.00), 33–39 = D (1.00), 0–32 = F (0.00).
How many subjects count in SSC GPA?
All compulsory subjects on your mark sheet count, and the 4th subject counts only as a bonus. Enter the subjects exactly as they appear on your mark sheet; the calculator divides by however many compulsory subjects you enter.
