Scottish Highers UCAS Points Calculator
Many UK universities state entry requirements as UCAS Tariff points. Scottish qualifications have their own Tariff values, so a Higher is worth less than an A level and an Advanced Higher the same as an A level. Enter each Higher and Advanced Higher with its grade to get your Tariff total.
Tariff values: Higher A = 33, B = 27, C = 21, D = 15. Advanced Higher A = 56, B = 48, C = 40, D = 32. National 5 has no Tariff points. For comparison, an A level A* is 56 and an A is 48, so an Advanced Higher A matches an A level A*. Universities in Scotland usually make offers in grades (for example AAAB at Higher, or AAB at Higher plus an Advanced Higher), while some English and Welsh universities use points, so check how your course states its offer.
Default example: five Highers (AABBC) and one Advanced Higher at B: 33 + 33 + 27 + 27 + 21 + 48 = 189 points. If you also have A levels, the IB or BTECs, use the A level UCAS calculator for those parts and add the totals together.
